Jones set her sights on acting at a young age.
Raised with two younger brothers by her mother and grandmother, she studied
ballet, violin, piano and cello during her childhood. Drama classes took
precedence in junior high and high school, and she landed her first national
commercial for IBM at the age of 15. By the time she was 19, high-profile
television series roles began coming her way. Tamala was voted one of the
top ten sexiest women by the readers of Black Men Magazine for 2000 & 2001.
